BRINE DISCHARGE MODELING
Hydrodynamic Model of the Effect of Brine Discharge for the submarine outfall of GCM PERÚ LTDA SAC.

GAPASH developed a hydrodynamic model of wind and tidal forced currents in the study area to integrate it into a brine dispersion model to obtain the modeling of the effect of the discharge in both near field and far field; other variables inserted into the model were bathymetry, wind regime, and the conditions of the effluent load to be discharged, as the main parameters.
The dispersion model used by Visual Plumes, which is a model developed by the USEPA, has an extended module for the discharge of negative buoyancy effluents such as brine, which is the UM3 module.
The DELFT3D FLOW module was used for the hydrodynamic model of the currents. This is a three-dimensional hydrodynamic model used to simulate steady and unsteady flows, utilizing the continuity, momentum, and transport equations. This model was part of the documentation submitted to obtain the effluent discharge permit approved by the National Water Authority (ANA).
