ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING

2024-2025
GAPASH developed semi-annual monitoring of ocean currents, temperature and salinity at 16 stations located in the vicinity of the ENGIE Port Terminal in Ilo, with the objective of characterizing the oceanographic conditions of the area of influence of port operations and supporting the environmental management of the terminal.
The work was carried out using acoustic current profilers (ADCP), CTD equipment for measuring temperature and salinity, precision GNSS systems for positioning the monitoring stations, and specialized software for processing and analyzing the oceanographic information obtained in the field.
The information gathered made it possible to evaluate the behavior of marine currents and the physical-oceanographic conditions present in the study area, generating a reliable technical basis for environmental monitoring, the analysis of local marine dynamics and compliance with the environmental commitments associated with the operation of the port terminal.
